This position is a joint initiative between the Menzies Health Institute Queensland (MHIQ), Griffith University and Metro North Hospital and Health Service (MNHHS). The position will enhance research around the economics of chronic disease within the Area of Strategic Investment (ASI) at Griffith University, while also leading a health economics research agenda to inform service planning and to improve patient outcomes, experiences and access to allied health services in MNHHS.
This is a fixed term (five years), full time position based at the Nathan campus and Metro North Health Service District Hospital and Health Service.
In this position you will provide high level expertise and support to staff in health economics applied to chronic disease and allied health. You will undertake economic evaluations of clinical trials, including input into the design of clinical trials, developing key outcome measures, and the evaluation of the trials. There is scope to extend the role into areas such as priority setting using techniques including multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA), preference elicitation techniques such as discrete choice experiments, or other techniques which may be useful in determining the feasibility and sample size of trials.
Developing research collaborations across Griffith University and MNHHS is a critical aspect of the role, particularly with allied health staff within MNHHS. Mentoring, providing practical seminars on health economics methods and contributing to research grant applications and manuscripts will be expected.
The successful candidate will be a qualified Allied Health professional with a PhD in Health Economics or another relevant field. You will possess expert level analytical skills, including the development of economic evaluation models, evaluation of health services and analysis of clinical trial data. A substantial track record in successful grants and publications with strengths in evidence based medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics, and health economics will be essential. An understanding of the Australian health system and policy-making environment is also a requirement for this position.
Associate Professor, Level D: $ 133,778 – $147,383 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $156,521 – $172,439 per annum.
