University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks to fill up to three full time faculty positions to join the renowned Department of Medicine/Infectious Diseases (ID) Division. Rank and tenure status will be determined based on qualifications. Salary and start-up package are negotiable. Positions are available for both PhDs and Board eligible MDs.
UAB, the Department of Medicine, and the Division of Infectious Diseases are leaders in medical research and NIH funding. Interdisciplinary collaborations between basic and clinical faculty is a strong suit of UAB. We offer a well-developed infrastructure for cross-cutting research in inflammation, infection, and immunity.
Candidates with a variety of skill sets and outstanding track record of accomplishments in infectious diseases and sustained extramural funding preferred to complement ongoing investigative work or to develop new areas of emphasis are sought. Priority will be given to those with expertise in infections in immunocompromised hosts (including transplant recipients), global health and travel/tropical medicine, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, and bench research in diverse topics including HIV, the human microbiome and its role in susceptibility to infectious diseases, bacterial pathogenesis, and mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance.
