The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at UTMB in partnership with Shriners Hospital for Children-Galveston is seeking a full-time pediatric endocrinologist, with academic rank based on qualifications and experience. Qualified candidates will have completed a pediatric endocrinology fellowship program, be board certified in Pediatrics and BC/BE in Pediatric Endocrinology. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to clinical medicine, teaching, and research. We are particularly interested in recruiting motivated faculty members who in addition to clinical and teaching qualifications have an active interest in career and program development, including clinical and basic research.

UTMB, established in 1891, is comprised of 4 schools and 3 institutes. The Medical School enrolls 230 students per class; 1 in 6 Texas physicians have trained at UTMB. The UTMB Pediatric Residency program currently fills 12 positions per year. The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology is actively involved in all levels of medical education.

Shriners Hospital for Children-Galveston, located on the UTMB Galveston campus, is an internationally recognized center for research and treatment of pediatric burn injury. Metabolism, including endocrinology, is one of the 6 core research areas. Under the leadership of Dr. Walter Meyer and Dr. David Herndon, the metabolic research program at Shriners Hospital-Galveston has actively contributed to our understanding of metabolic changes associated with burn injury, leading to significant improvements in patient care.
The new faculty member will actively participate in the research and clinical care programs at Shriners Hospital, provide inpatient and outpatient pediatric endocrinology and diabetes services at UTMB, and maintain medical school teaching responsibilities.
