Job ID: 19142
Location: CUNY School of Medicine
Full/Part Time: Full-Time
Regular/Temporary: Regular

The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) was founded upon the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education and is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Located on The City College of New York campus in Harlem, the mission of the CSOM is to produce competent, broadly educated, highly skilled medical practitioners who provide quality health services to communities historically underserved by primary care practitioners. Our reputation for excellence has earned national acclaim for performance and a broad network of clinical sites for clerkships.

The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Biomedical Sciences (MCBS) was formed through the merger of several basic science departments and represents one of the four departments in the school (Community Health and Social Medicine, Medical Education, and Clinical Medicine). The department plays a critical role in our mission-driven BS/MD program and Physician Assistant program through the teaching of the basic science curriculum and by conducting extramurally funded research. The research agenda of the current members of the department is centered on neuroscience, microbiology and immunology, cardiovascular disease, and oncology.

MCBS is seeking an experienced teacher/investigator of medical physiology and/or pharmacology for tenured/tenure-track Associate Medical or Full Medical Professor position. As the department has strong research programs in Bio-medical Sciences, the new hire should be an independent investigator and experienced medical school teacher. Preference will be given to an investigator who is an experienced teacher of medical Physiology and Pharmacology. The duties of medical faculty include teaching, research, and guidance duties in their area of expertise. Faculty also will share responsibility for committee and Department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS
M.D. and/or Ph.D. with a minimum of five (5) years of postdoctoral research and teaching experience. The potential candidates should: (i) have a good publication record in reputable journals in the general area of cardiovascular, pulmonary and endocrine, physiology/pharmacology/stroke and inflammation; (ii) teaching experience in a medical school environment, and (iii) willing to collaborate with colleagues in the Department and/or CCNY.

COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.
